Churchill Downs

A milestone edition of one of the best events in all of sports, the Kentucky Derby, is set for Saturday afternoon.

This year's Kentucky Derby marks the 150th iteration of the storied race at Churchill Downs. Fierceness, who recently won the 2024 Florida Derby, currently stands as the favorite to win the Kentucky Derby. Other contenders include Sierra Leone, Forever Young, Catching Freedom and Just a Touch.

Last year's winner, Mage, has since retired, meaning there will not be a repeat champion at this year's event. The total purse is $5 million to be distributed to the top five finishers.

Fans can listen to the Kentucky Derby with extensive coverage on the radio. The Sporting News has you covered with all the information on how to do so.
