Amidst Hype Around Kate Martin, Kelsey Plum and Alysha Clark Review Aces’ “Sponge” Rookies

Their vets, Kelsey Plum and Alysha Clark, cannot help but be proud of their development in the professional league. Also, the WNBA has never been as busy as it is this season. And a lot of the credit for this goes to the 2024 draft class, who are anything but unforgiving on the floor.

Talking to Paloma Villicana of Fox 5 Vegas, Kelsey Plum said, “First of all, Kate Money Martin, big fan base in Iowa. They just cuss us out if anything else happens that we don’t share Kate love. Man, I’m afraid of those people. But no, she’s been incredible. She’s like a sponge, super competitive. And of course, Dyaisha, really just a bucket. Just someone that comes in and instant offense. She’s also a sponge, just trying to learn and grow. Really cool to have those two here. I think they’re going to help our team a lot.”

The 2x WNBA champ with the Aces has also spent a good amount of time with her two rookies during her DAWG class that wrapped up just a couple of weeks ago. But apart from Under Armour’s Dawg, Kelsey Plum, the Fair and Martin duo have also captivated a 3x WNBA champion.

Alysha Clark resonates with Kelsey Plum in praising the rookies

Alysha Clark also spelled out what she loves about the 2024 class rookies when talking to Villicana. She said, “Just their fearlessness. They’ve come in and they’ve been so competitive. They’ve been sponges, soaking everything up. They’ve been asking the vets questions, trying to learning it better. It’s a lot being thrown at them regardless of how good you were in college.”

This is a different level. So, they’re taking it all in stride. They’re going to go look for score. They’re going to be aggressive and that’s always something great when you know you have that coming in,” Clark added. According to the 36-year-old small forward, the two rookies have gotten better over time. Something, that everyone looks forward to.

But what attracts Clark the most about these two is the fact that as soon as they step on the floor, they are no longer afraid.
